In this episode, Russ Cowper from The Psoriasis Shout Out team takes over and we talk about our experiences of treatments, societal acceptance and relationships. We even talk about the benefits of having psoriasis … yes there are some! O.K technically he is interviewing me but he gives so much value it is more like a conversation as we get get warmed up.
Why Conversations about Psoriasis?
Psoriasis has the potential to impact every aspect of your life.
I have suffered from psoriasis for most of my life. I manage my psoriasis naturally most of the time (this is a picture taken of me recovering from a flare at my acupuncturist office). You can see my skin flaring with guttate and plaque psoriasis here too. I use pharmaceutical interventions when my mental health starts to deteriorate. I use pharmaceutical intervention as a tool. Russ has a very different experience. He also suffers with Psoriatic Arthritis and is taking Biologics- he has taken quite a few! We also have had very different experiences with dermatologists and reactions in public. Talking with other people who understand is incredibly cathartic. I spoke to Russ for another 40 minutes after the podcast finished because it was so interesting hearing about his experiences. The more we talk openly, the better the world for us will be.
