The reading of content at http://www.thisscientistsays.com is completely voluntary and of your own free will. If you do not agree with the Terms of Use you should cease use of this website immediately. If however you understand and agree wholeheartedly then we have some great articles for you so don’t leave just yet, just be aware that by using this website you accept this disclaimer in full.

I reserve the rights to change the content on the Terms of Use whenever I believe it is needed. Whilst it is unlikely it is not outside the realms of possibility so please check back here often. If you do use the website after the changes have been made, it indicates that you have agreed to the changes.

Even though I spent a great deal of time researching my facts using sites written primarily by medical professionals and professional scientists (you can check out my references at the end of each post for more detail) I am human (and with young children frequently sleep deprived). All of the content on this website is true to the best of my knowledge but there may be omissions, errors or mistakes. If you believe I have made an error, mistake or omission I will wholeheartedly thank you for letting me know (via the contact form) and make any necessary amendments as soon as humanly possible.

Unless otherwise noted, I (Gemma Boak from http://www.thisscientistsays.com) am the legal copyright holder of all (written, multimedia and graphic) material on this website and it may not be used, reprinted, (partially) modified or published without my written consent. Excerpts and quotes may be reprinted on the condition that it is less that 10% of the post, there is clear attribution and any links included in the excerpt must remain functional.

Guest bloggers and other contributors to http://www.thisscientistsays.com are responsible for their own submitted material on my website and have to ensure that their work complies with national and relevant foreign laws. The opinions expressed by any Third Parties are their own and do not represent the position or belief of thisscientistsays.com.

I also am not responsible – but very sorry –  for any narrow minded, impolite or offensive comments by others on my blog.

3.   Hold Harmless

The information disclosed on this website is intended for information and entertainment purposes only and is the opinion of myself (Gemma Boak) and in no way reflects any organisations I may be associated with. The aim of this website is to provide information and to share my reflections on my personal experiences to help you broaden your thinking in terms of options and to help you discover new opportunities for further research to improve your health. The information is not advice. I am not a doctor and at no point should you use the information this website as advice. All changes you decide to make following information found on this site must be researched thoroughly and discussed with a medical doctor. In absolutely no circumstances should you ever change any treatment protocol prescribed by your medical doctor without discussion with your medical doctor first. Ever. If you decide to rely on information found on this website to make changes to your personal circumstances which can include your diet and your treatment regimen then you do so at your own risk. I (Gemma Boak) am a research scientist. I am not qualified to give financial, health, nutritional, medical, legal or any other advice. You need to consult a professional before you take any action.

Statements about the health benefits achieved as a result of eating certain foods or consuming supplements are not supported by the FDA but check the references for supporting evidence so you can draw your own conclusions as part of your wider research into the matter. Just a reminder- never make any medical decision based on what you have read on ANY website. Research widely and then discuss with your medical practitioner.

Under no circumstances will I be liable for any loss or damage (including without limitation indirect or consequential loss or damage) or any loss or damage whatsoever arising from loss of data or profits arising out of or in connection with the use of this website.

I cannot be held responsible for any offence taken due to translation, interpretation or mistakes in grammar and/or punctuation of my website’s content. I am British and some of the words in my vocabulary may unintentionally cause offence elsewhere in the world.

Although I try to keep thisscientistsays.com online all day, every day, access to the site may be temporarily or permanently suspended and without notice due to possible updates or technical issues beyond my control, such as my toddler pouring milk over my computer. I will not be liable if for any reason the website is unavailable at any time or for any period of time. I will try to get the website back online as soon as possible.

4.   Privacy Statement

Your privacy is important to me, so all information you provide to me will be kept private. I will never sell your personal information or send you random junk unless you have a penchant for junk and specifically request it.

I am not responsible for the privacy practices of any of my advertisers or blog commenters.

5.   Reserve Rights

I reserve the right to change the focus of thisscientistsays.com, to shut it down, sell it, change the terms of use and change the font colour to the same colour as the background if i so wish.

I also reserve the rights to edit or delete comments posted if they are spammy, trying to take advantage of visitors to the site (no i don’t want to buy your ‘miracle creams’), contain dangerous, misleading, offensive or potentially offensive content. I do very much like positive feedback, virtual hugs and good questions.

6.   Advertisers and Sponsors

I am not responsible for the actions of my advertisers or sponsors. If you purchase a product or service based upon a link from my website, you must take action with that company to resolve any issues, not thisscientistsays.com.

As products evolve over time it is your responsibility to check that the link corresponds to the same product I have recommended and is the appropriate solution to your need.

I may include affiliate links in the website which means if you click on them and make a purchase I will get a small payment from the retailer which does not cost you anything but helps to cover the cost of hosting and maintaining this website (and hopefully will buy me the chocolate i need to produce the content) and for this reason i am very grateful if you use these links instead of opening a new window. I will only ever recommend products I have have used myself (unless otherwise stated). I will also clearly disclose if the post includes affiliate links though you may prefer to just assume all links are affiliate.

I evaluate advertising partners on a case by case basis and products will only be considered if the product is excellent and both he product and the company align with my mission and values.

I do not allow:

  • Paid links or exchanges
  • Ad networks or non curated advertisements
  • Paid reviews

7.   Letters to the Editor

Any letters, e-mails, blog comments, responses on Social Media platforms such as Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and Twitter, or questions written directly to me may be used to share with my audience unless specifically requested otherwise. (Part of) these letters or emails, questions or any other feedback may be used in newsletters, blog posts, columns or up-and-coming books.

Thank you so much for visiting my website, i hope you have found what you were looking for today, if not, hop on over to the contact page and let me know. You never know, I might write the next post just for you 🙂
